Disney rolled out the striped black carpet for the World Premiere of "Herbie: Fully Loaded" on June 19th. Despite the warm weather and clear blue skies, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm for movie fans to see the likes of Lindsey Lohan, Matt Dillon and a number of Hollywood's finest stars in the spotlight of the sun.
The star of "Herbie," Lindsay Lohan, was one of the first stars to arrive at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. Wearing her trademark smile, Lohan was greeted by numerous news photographers, television interviewers and hundreds of fans waiting behind barriers across from the theatre on Hollywood Blvd.
The list of film and television stars was lengthy for the premiere. One of the early arrivals was CNN talk show host, Larry King, his wife Shawn Southwick, and their children. Matt Dillon, who plays the baddie, Trip Murphy, held an interview near the El Capitan box office. Other stars came down the carpet, with some walking quickly into the theatre to get seated, while others took time to speak with some reporters.
The stars that I and my fellow reporter, Alexandria, could see or take pictures of included Abigail Breslin, Spenser Breslin, Dick Cook (Walt Disney Studios Chairman), Cheryl Hines, Jeryn (From Disney Channel's Movie Surfers), Michael Keaton, Lisa Kudrow, Mario Larraza, Justin Long, George Lopez, Tessa Ludwick, Alyson Michalka, Amanda Michalka, Peter Pasco, Brenda Song, Ashley Tisdale, and Jon Voight.
Once again, my daughter, Alexandria, was my helpful reporter at this big event. She kept the rest of the reporters on-hand abreast of any Disney Channel stars arriving on the black carpet. She's perhaps the biggest fan of the Disney Channel I know. I sincerely thank her.
Those lucky enough to have tickets to the film were escorted to their seats inside of the theatre. FSTD isn't really a site for movie reviews, but I will say that "Herbie" is a fun film with enough sweetness to please audiences. The kids in the audience got a "kick" out of watching this modern day Herbie movie. The film has a fast pace, and every actor is convincing and enjoyable to watch.
After the film concluded, guests were invited outside for music, activities for the children, photo opportunities with the stars at the premiere, food and dancing.
