Disney & Pixar
rolled in the little robot named Wall*E in time for its
world premiere on June 21, 2008. The little guy traveled
down the orange carpet in front of L.A.'s Greek Theatre.
The premiere was held on a sweltering day where
temperatures were in the 100s. But that didn't stop the
stars coming out both in the nighttime sky, and in front
of the press.
The guest of honor, Wall*E, is a real life little robot
who could talk to reporters and roll around the orange
carpet. Many guests, especially children, were excited
to see the little robot perform. NASA and JPL also
supplied exhibits. Guests of the premiere were taken to
Griffith Park Observatory for an after-movie party.
My "cub" reporter, Alexandria, kept me and the other
members of the press abreast of the stars arriving, as
she always does. Adrian Bailon, Bob Iger, John
Ratzenberger, Cheech Marin, Kathy Najimy, Sigourney
Weaver, John Lasseter, Ed Catmull, Roy E. Disney, Marty
Sklar, Tony Baxter, Blair Underwood, Elissa Knight, Jeff
Garlin, Buzz Aldren, Ben Burtt, director Andrew Stanton,
and producer Jim Morris were all on-hand.
The movie opened on June 27, 2008.
